New School, New Rules

Well, we officially made it through our Intro Hour at the kids’ new school, so come Monday, I’ll officially have my life back!

There is one small caveat… this new school has some pretty strict rules around food. I know this can be triggering to some people, and frankly, it’s an absolute privilege that I’m able to provide this level of nutrition for my kids.

The rules are:

-fruit and veggie daily

-no chips

-no cookies

-no gummy snacks

-no peanut butter

To make things easier on myself, I thought it would be a good idea to update my morning menus to include lunch and snack options— that way, as long as I keep the menu items on the grocery list, I’ll be able to be consistent with the menu thing. Snacks are easy. Lunches are so hard.

Basically, the idea is to have options for the “mains”, then categories of sides to choose from.

For example, my kids will choose one main and 3 sides, one side from each row/category AND whatever fruit and veggie I have on hand. There won’t be many options there LOL.

Mains:

-turkey and cream cheese pinwheels

-chicken quesadilla

-pb&j (or whatever nut butter substitute)

-chicken nuggets

-ham and cheese croissant

-mac and cheese with weenies

Sides (choose one per row):

mini bagel with cream cheese

pretzels

veggie straws

meat stick

pepperoni slices

meatballs

cheese stick

yogurt

apple sauce

protein bites

protein bar

mini muffins (hidden veggies)

Here are the menus I’m printing for Samson and Hazel Paige

These are HP’s morning worksheets.

And these are the worksheets for Samson- HP isn’t quite here yet.

reminder that everything is customizable and downloadable!

I also started a master sheet of mains, sides, and snacks, which I’ll update as things go, and you can find it here. Feel free to leave any comments with new ideas!!

Ok you’re the best

I love you bye

Rachel
